80 Hot air balloons from 160 countries will fill the skies of Izmir from September 9 to 20. The festival will be attended by 1.5 million visitors and also serve as a great opportunity for EXPO.
The International Hot Air Balloon Festival will take place with the support of the T.R Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Governorate of Izmir.
The biggest dream of Turkish air ballooning enthusiasts who have been looking at Turkey’s beautiful landscape from up in the air since 1984 will finally come true. The Balloon Festival, which was organized for the first time in Cappadocia by Turkey’s first aeronaut Bilge Ezel, will be now held in Izmir as well.
The First International Izmir Balloon Festival 2012 has also been announced in the Worldwide Hot Air Balloon Festival List. The Balloon Festival will contribute to the promotion of Izmir and its historical, cultural and touristic assets which have made Izmir a brand in itself. The Festival will take place at different locations of Izmir such as Balçova, Inciraltı, Kordon, Karşıyaka, Bostanlı, Çiğli, Dikili, Bergama, Selçuk- Efes, Pamucak, Belevi, Torbalı, Tire, Ödemiş and Bayındır.
